I read the first two chapters of "When The Levee Breaks" from the web site and was intrigued, so I ordered the book online. The anticipation was there when it arrived in my mail box and I could not wait to continue my read. I wanted to know more about the people living behind the doors of the house on the cover. Not only was I in store for a captivating tale of a young man exploring the depths of reality, but I was captured by the unpeeled naked truth of the lost innocence Hadley encounters when he becomes a man. I was truly spellbound by the novel when I grasped the difficult path that the Carlyle family chose to take as a solution to their financial problems with the corrupt banker.
I started the book within an hour of arrival and continued my read until finished at 4:00 a.m. that night. After I laid down the book, I left contentment. Not only did it appeal to my rural roots, Alec Carlyle took me into the soul of a family that still believes in the values of the old world, the values that made America great. You should make this story into a movie!
I want to read more... I am thoroughly enjoying your book. I find it most entertaining and very well written. I think it would make a really fun movie to watch. |
Just thought I would drop you a little e-mail to tell you that my husband and I really enjoyed reading “When The Levee Breaks”. I have to say that I was a little angry at the dad for doing such a thing. Ha! Ha!
My husband read your book all the way through the day we got it. I had tried to start it first and then he came home and stole it from me and read the whole thing that afternoon and stayed up until he was finished. I just wanted to say, "Great Job!"
Robyn – Leedy, OK I finished your book and thought it was very good!! I always like books with poetic justice in them. As I read the book, I was sort of sad at times, and I wondered how the kids would explain all the things they got into, but as with any GOOD book it went in a direction I didn't expect. Congratulations on a very fine book. Thomas - Tulsa, OK
You gave a very good insight into the tremendous pressures associated with being an American farmer. “When The Levee Breaks” gives readers a surprising perspective. |
Just a note to let you know that I have finished reading your book, and enjoyed it immensely. I found it hard to put down, once I started reading it. I hope you will continue your writing books. Please don't let this one be your first and last.
